Privacy Policy

1. Data collected

Freshrecap processes the following data, each for the stated purpose:

• Account - email address, hashed password, language and theme preferences
• Password - hashed, never in plain text
• Processed content - source text you submit, transcript, generated summary, title and metadata
• Subscription - customer identifier, subscription status and history, invoices

Your source text is keptfor as long as needed to generate and provide your summary, then deleted according to the retention periods published on the Retention and exercising your rights page. Generated audio files are stored in private object storage, reachable only through a time-limited signed link, and never in the database.

2. Use of data

Your data is used to:

• Provide the service and perform the contract: create your account, process your content, generate and deliver your summaries and audio
• Manage your subscription and billing
• Comply with our legal, accounting and tax obligations, and keep proof of consent
• Keep the service secure and prevent abuse and errors (legitimate interest)
• Improve models, only on the basis of your optional, specific and revocable consent

3. Data retention

Precise periods per data category are published on the Retention and exercising your rights page. In short: your history is kept for the life of your account, technical logs for 12 months at most, and on account deletion active data is erased within 24 hours while backups are purged within 30 days. Proof of consent and accounting records are kept for the period required by law.

4. Account deletion

You may delete your account at any time from the My account page. Deletion is permanent: it erases the account, your summaries and your source text, removes audio files from object storage, ends your dataset eligibility and expires any pending export. Proof of consent and accounting records are kept for the period required by law.

Optional contribution to AI improvement

You may allow your future summaries and audio to be used to improve AI models for everyone's benefit. This option is off by default and has no effect on access to the service: refusing it never limits normal use of Freshrecap.

Technical filtering and validated human review are required before any eligibility; absolute anonymisation is not promised, and no filter removes every sensitive case. You may withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it. No content is shared with a partner without a new explicit decision from you.

Transfers, recipients and rights

The providers processing data on our behalf are named, with their purpose, country and applicable transfer safeguards, on the Sub-processors and partners page. None of them may use your data for their own purposes. Your content is never shared with a training partner without your explicit consent.

You may exercise your rights of access, portability, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and withdrawal directly from your account, or by writing to the data protection contact shown in the legal notice. We reply within the statutory one-month period. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).

5. Security

We use technical and organizational measures to protect your data: encryption in transit (HTTPS), password hashing, and restricted access.

7. International transfers

Some providers may be established outside the European Union. In that case the transfer relies on a European Commission adequacy decision or on standard contractual clauses, supplemented where necessary by technical and organisational measures. 8. Cookies and local storage

Freshrecap uses only storage strictly necessary for operation, security and your preferences. No advertising or third-party tracking technology is used, on the website or in the application. No consent is therefore required for what is used today. The detailed policy is available on the Cookies.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the service or in the law. For any material change we inform you before it takes effect, through the service or by email. The date and version at the top of this page are authoritative.

10. Data subjects and minors

The service is reserved for people aged at least 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe data was collected by mistake, contact the privacy contact for immediate deletion.
