Cookies and local storage
Freshrecap currently uses strictly necessary storage only. No advertising tracker, no analytics tool and no third-party tracking resource is loaded on the site: that is why no consent banner is shown. The exact inventory of what is stored in your browser appears below.
Any future non-essential analytics tool will remain blocked until a separate, free and revocable consent. Refusing must not degrade essential features.
1. Categories of cookies and local storage
Freshrecap sorts what is stored in your browser into three categories. Nothing is used to track you across other sites, and nothing is sold or shared with an advertising third party.
Strictly necessary (exempt from consent)
Session cookie: freshrecap_session (and the former name asai_session), set by the server, marked HttpOnly and Secure, 30-day lifetime. It only keeps you signed in and protects your account. Language cookie: NEXT_LOCALE, which remembers your chosen language (fr/en) to serve the right version of the site. Local preference storage: light/dark theme (asai-theme) and automatic summary playback (asai-autoplay-summary). Under Article 82 of the French Data Protection Act and CNIL guidance, these are essential to the service or express a preference of yours: they require no prior consent.
Interface preferences (also exempt)
Preferences stored locally (language, theme, autoplay) are never sent to a server or a third party. You can erase them at any time from your browser settings; the core features of the service keep working without them.
Analytics or non-essential trackers: none
No analytics tool, advertising pixel or third-party tracker is loaded on Freshrecap, either on the website or in the application. Should we ever add one, it would remain blocked until consent and a banner would let you accept or refuse, with withdrawal as easy as consent. Refusal would never degrade core features.
2. Storage retention
The session cookie expires after 30 days or on sign-out. The language cookie and local preferences are kept until you erase them or until your browser deletes your site data.
3. Manage, limit or refuse
You may delete this storage at any time from your browser settings (under "Privacy", "Cookies" or "Site data"), or sign out to invalidate the session. In the extension, disabling local storage removes preferences and the offline queue.
To go further, see our Privacy Policy detailing server-side data, and our Legal Notice. Privacy Policy.
4. Legal basis: why there is no banner today
Consent is required when the purpose is not strictly necessary, or when the tracker is used for advertising or non-exempt analytics. That is not the case for Freshrecap today: the inventory above contains only the session cookie, the language cookie and two local preferences. This choice is documented and re-checked before any change: as soon as a tracking tool were added, a compliant banner would be put in place before it is activated.
